Terms of Service

The rules for using We-Fly, what we promise, and what stays yours

Last Updated: September 28, 2026

1. The short version

  • We-Fly is free to use. Creating an account costs nothing.
  • We-Fly is proprietary software. The code is closed source and all rights to it are reserved. You use the service in your browser; you don't get a copy of the software.
  • Your flights stay yours. You keep every right to the files and data you upload. You can download all of it or delete it at any time.
  • We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising. How we handle personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.
  • We-Fly is not a flight instrument. Never rely on it alone to decide whether, where or how to fly.

The rest of this page says the same things in more detail.

2. Who we are and what these terms cover

We-Fly is a logbook and analysis platform for paragliding pilots, operated by the data controller named in the Privacy Policy (section "Contact Us"). These terms apply to the website, the apps built on it and the partner API (/api/v1).

By creating an account and accepting the consent screen, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

3. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  • Keep your password and any API keys secret. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • One person, one account. Don't create accounts in someone else's name.
  • Tell us at the contact address if you think your account has been compromised.

4. Your content

"Your content" means the IGC files, flights, flight comments, wings, licences, tasks and any other data you add to We-Fly.

  • You keep ownership. Uploading a flight does not transfer any rights to us.
  • What you let us do with it. You give us the permission we need to run the service: store your content, process it (scoring, thermal analysis, statistics), and show it to the people you choose. If you share a flight, a replay or your profile, or set your profile to public, it is shown to those people and nobody else. This permission is non-exclusive and ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from backups that expire on their normal schedule (see the Data Retention Policy).
  • Community statistics. Pages such as community stats, site rankings and thermal hotspots are built from many pilots' flights. Individual pilots only appear in them when their profile is public. Anonymous, aggregated figures (for example "flights logged at this takeoff") may stay after you leave, because they no longer identify you.
  • Your responsibility. Only upload content you have the right to share. Don't upload other pilots' flights as your own.

5. Free service

We-Fly is currently offered free of charge. If we ever introduce paid features, we will tell you beforehand, and nothing you already have will be moved behind a paywall without notice. You will never be charged without choosing a paid option yourself.

6. Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • break the law, or harass, impersonate or harm other pilots;
  • upload malware, or content that isn't yours to share;
  • try to access accounts, flights or data you are not allowed to see;
  • scrape the service, or get around rate limits and access controls;
  • use the partner API outside the rules in the API documentation and the scopes a pilot granted you;
  • copy, decompile or resell the service or its code.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and remove content that does.

7. Flight safety

Paragliding is dangerous. We-Fly is an analysis tool, not a flight instrument and not a source of official aeronautical information.

  • Airspace, NOTAMs, weather, terrain, wind and thermal information may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Always check official sources before you fly.
  • Statistics, scores, badges and recommendations describe past flights. They say nothing about whether conditions are safe today.
  • Live tracking and safety notifications can fail (no signal, flat battery, server issues). Never make them your only safety measure.

You alone are responsible for your decisions in the air.

8. Intellectual property

The We-Fly name, logo, design and software belong to We-Fly, and all rights are reserved. These terms give you the right to use the service, not a licence to the software itself.

Third-party data and libraries (map tiles, elevation data, OpenAIP airspace, the igc-xc-score library and others) remain under their own licences. Credits are listed on the References page.

9. Availability and changes

We-Fly is run by a small team and is still in active development ("expect rough edges"). We do our best to keep it running and your data safe, but we can't promise uninterrupted service. Features may change or be removed.

We keep regular backups, and you can download a full copy of your data at any time from your profile (see Get your data). We recommend keeping your own copy of your IGC files.

10. Liability

The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, We-Fly is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for decisions you make based on the service, or for loss of data you could have backed up yourself. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or takes away your rights as a consumer.

11. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your profile. This permanently deletes your flights and personal data, as described in the Privacy Policy. Accounts inactive for 3 years are deleted after a warning email.

We may close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Where possible, we will warn you first and give you time to download your data.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. For significant changes we will notify you by email or with a notice in the app before they take effect. If you keep using We-Fly after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can delete your account.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms: see "Contact Us" in the Privacy Policy, or use the contact page.
